This architectural concept was developed for a restaurant that will become part of the wake park’s sports and leisure zone, located on the shore of one of the three lakes within the Vlasne Misto complex. Vlasne Misto is a next-generation residential development near Kyiv, designed as a fully autonomous town with well-planned residential, educational, work and recreational infrastructure.
ARCHITECTURAL ANCHORS
The space is defined by several expressive architectural elements that shape its uniqueness and recognisable identity. One of them is a large semi-transparent circular canopy made of polycarbonate. The circle acts as both an aesthetic and functional feature: it brings together the restaurant, pool and lounge area into one cohesive composition, while also providing shelter from rain and direct sunlight. Another key conceptual element is the use of granite boulders, which serve as roof supports and create a strong artistic accent, especially in the evening, when the lighting highlights the natural texture of the stone. The choice of granite is intentional, as the site is located near the Zhytomyr highway, an area known for granite extraction and numerous granite deposits.
SPATIAL FLEXIBILITY
The restaurant offers a mixed seating format, combining classic dining areas with a lounge zone. As a result, the space is equally suitable for a relaxed lunch and for an evening cocktail overlooking the lake. One of the most distinctive interior details is a chandelier shaped like a fishing net, suspended above the bar. It serves as a subtle reference to the local context and fishing traditions.
LIVING CONTINUUM
The restaurant concept is based on the principles of terroir design, a philosophy followed by YOD Group. Rather than contrasting with the natural surroundings, the architecture seeks to become their organic continuation. This effect is achieved through the use of local materials, natural textures and native plants. As a result, the restaurant is perceived not as a separate structure, but as an integral part of the landscape.
